Dead Zone
07:03
|
|||
i just saw something that i wish i had not seen
sweet little babes in their cradles with the wind abusing the tree
the ropes that bind sails to their masts are steadily fraying
and the eyes that belong to the shore men can only watch as we sink
you know it's easy to say you don't care if the world disappears
who knows how many have come before and gotten caught in that light like deer
tomorrow my form could be changing but today i'm here
feeling my way through the storm, i sure hope the clouds clear
and there's a dead zone where i keep my fear
but i won't go there
i won't go there

The Key
04:13
|
|||
i remember
feeling different than i do now
i remember
chattanooga and the pale blue sky
i just liked the windows
in my elementary school days
so what's the big deal if say
i get a little lost on the way
i know that's wrong, but
outside of me
outside of all this
there are things that
only wait to
be unlocked
if there's a key
then there's a possibility
the door could lead me
back to it
now i'm running out of time
to get everything off my mind
now i'm trying hard not to be
idle, cause tomorrow's a mystery
now i make it count when i breath
cause i'm a memory factory
but i hope i always have my key
some things are so special to me
life it goes on, but
outside of me
outside of all this
there are things that
only wait to
be unlocked
if there's a key
then there's a possibility
the door could lead me
back to it

Origami
04:06
|
|||
stones create
ripples on lakes
that fish must take
for celestial waves
your folds are old
your dog eared brain
a paper crane
made from someone else's page
real life birds fly
while i'm down here
so i stay quiet
and listen
there's a deadly game that you play
when you don't hear what the cranes have to say
there's a game of chance that you play
when you don't listen to what the rabbits have to say...
just take a look
at the paper crane
from the same book
came your own page
just take a look

Everyday Burning
04:15
|
|||
sounds like the rain outside is burning
wonder if the page is turning?
feels like the wheel up high is turning
wonder if the page is burning?
tastes like the meal we made was burning
wonder if the page is turning?
seems like the only path is learning
but what if the page is burning now?
stuck inside of the burning building
there's so many things you're feeling
but what can you do?
there's always something, you know it's true
look outside of the box you're given
if you could change your way of living
what would you do?
when i get there i hope i see you

Just the Way
05:44
|
|||
it's a hard hard world for all the little things
who know not what their path may bring
the backyard is in bloom today
don't you wish the color never went away?
little john sat and studied his book
while little lyla ate her breakfast in the nook
little finger points to a chapter called "war"
little john asks me "what's that for?"
and it's a hard hard world for all the little things
who don't know what their path may bring
ain't it just like a little thing?
to make you cry at the end of the day
ain't it just like a little bird?
to fly so far so far away
and when that part of your heart departs
ain't that just the way?
and it's a hard hard world for all the little things
who don't know what their path may bring

What's in the Well?
03:59
|
|||
i heard something bad is down there
i heard little lyla fell in
her mother is worried she's lost her
and when she calls to her, no answer
comes from the well
where you can't see the bottom of darkness
where the tortured earth is punctured
who knows how deep?
but i should sit a spell, and ponder
that silent deep
what is in the well that lures me
so i can't sleep?
it's where we get our water, but lately
it comes up red
but i have half a mind to go see
the world of dead
i'm going down the well with oil on my face
the rope will lower me into space
to retrieve the last taste
where the final echoes of the earthly race
ring out and we'll all be erased
cause men like me wanted their taste

Drone Alone
04:43
|
|||
we have come
much too far
to think about stopping the car
when the engine sputters out
and the road turns into tar
we will make new wheels
out of arms
cause we need cars
on the road
so traffic lights are not alone
and fumes in the sky
accompany drones
all lost on their way
way back home
running low on fuel
a town lies down the road
there's a sign that says stay home
and how i wish we could
but that was long ago
memories take me
way back
pile it in the car
we'll trade for steel and lead
i think this must be the dark ages
there's a lonely drone
been flying overhead
what strange beast lies on
the other end?
if you can hear me now
there's time for this to stop
you just have to stop the clock
some can't see its hands
or hear it tick and tock
but it counts down whether
you want it to or not

2 Late
06:03
|
|||
all my tears are gone
it's too late, now now
you said you wouldn't be long but
it's too late, now now
play another song cause
it's too late, now now
this one just feels wrong cause
it's too late, now now
beggars on the street know
it's too late, now now
kings in guillotines know
it's too late, now now
is it too late right now?
